i don't really think that gender plays a part when considering the impacts of technology. there are probably a similar ratio with men and women employees; therefore a joint agreement on the software and analytical improvements.

Sleeper Curve is defined as a type of good brainwashing in modern pop culture and media. Most t.v. shows and interactive games provide this sleeper curve. In video games, it is a constructive way to waste time; where as in sports, it also allots for some skills to be gained and lessons to be taught.

In the media today, Jenkins's ideas are proven very clearly. The different targets by advertising and the use or enjoyment that the item is supposed to give. Children are targeted by quite literally, childish things like toys, candy or cheap fun. The types of things that are geared towards them i think are pretty much unisex, approved by boys and girls. However, teenagers and adults are targeted for on a whole different level; the different spaces that Jenkins talked about is shown and is very accurate. Movies like The Ugly Truth, are geared towards girls because of the love scenes and the plot and storyline. Movies like SAW are directed towards guys because of gore and action, suspense along with the plot and storyline. Movies like The Hangover, can be considered unisex because all of the spaces are connected and intertwined together so all of the mediums are met. Popular Culture aimed at children provide a very simple motto: Simple Pleasures for Simple Minds.

This is about the author and how he a wide area of prairie-like grasslands to play on when he was a young child. He discusses how there is a never-ending fear for his children and the future, there will be no areas to play in that isn't hardwood or carpet.
Moving Beyond "Home Base": Why Physical Space Matters:
This section is about how the difference between boys and girls and how boys would prefer to play outside rather than stay in the house like girls, to be more like their mothers. He explains that most girls are not as adventurous as boys and compare and contrast differences between children at an early age.
Putting Boy Culture Back In The Home:
This section is primarily about how and why boys play outside as mentioned previously.
Gendered Games/ Gendered Books: Toward A Culture Geography Of Imaginary Spaces:
This section is about how the attitudes and development on the playground will give a window of how they will act when they get older. Also, the books they read mold their minds and contribute to their personal morals and values on right and wrong.
Adventure Islands: Boy Space:
This section explains the excitement and search for adventure in boys while doing activities or playing games. Studies show that boys are more likely to lean towards and choose "risk" games due to the danger or risk that is given while playing the game.
Secret Gardens: Girl Space:
This section is about how girls move toward sensitive or romantic or even secret/ gossip environments rather than adventure because that is what they are drawn to- their own world.
A Play Town: Another Space For Girls?:
This section refers to some of the games and activities that were made just for girls. These games have all of the specific and playable traits for girls to have that include everything from the previous section, and rejects all possibility for boys to have interest.
Conclusion: Toward A Gender-Neutral Play Space?:
This final section connects all aspects of the essay together like the differences between boys and girls. Concluding all final thoughts and tying up all lose ends and planting a cliffhanging opposition that makes you think and come up with your own views and your thoughts on how this should end.

After looking at the essay, I have indeed used some of the generic or specific moves, it allows for the writer to become more comfortable and commentate throughout the paper. The title of the paper was Beauty In Society; it is short, sweet and to the point and tells the reader what it is about. By using the introduction as a road map or outline, it orchestrates where the text will go by only providing introductory information, then explaining in detail later on in the paper. I basically use metacommentary to help me get my ideas across and elaborate on previous sub-points or viewpoints to connect all of the ideas together and conclude all thoughts. My text is satisfactory in length and I already used some of the metacommentary moves to fill in some blank or lean areas.

After reviewing an essay, I found that I use most, if not all, of these connecting parts. I rely on all of them because they are necessary to have in a decent paper. By depending on transitions and pointing terms, it provides an easy switch between topics with connections-what your trying to portray- and using examples from your text to show strong references to connect the various parts of your essay. The only issue that I found was, while writing the paper, it was hard to connect some of the topics and by jumping right in, it shows little effort. It is important to understand all parts of the topic, resulting in an ease of writing and it will flow with all of the proper parts and become easy to follow, connect and compel your argument or opinion.

TSIS p87 #2
After looking back at an essay that I wrote, I noticed I have several arguments within it. I researched the two sides of technology such as emailing, texting, video chatting and watching television. Since I was writing a persuasive essay, I needed to provide my argument which was, with all of the advancements of technology, humans are losing the ability to communicate verbally- face to face, but also needed to provide counter-arguments to show some positives. I will admit that I was biased while writing it, primarily because the research I found was so aggressive and there was little researched work on the counter-arguments. After I finished my research, I thought about this essay and made my own objections and feelings about the topic, which just so happened to correspond to the original argument. I think that the use of a naysayer in the paper strengthens your argument, it allows the writer to be somewhat biased and note thier own opinions with qualified research to back it up. With a stronger argument and clear and concise objections, it allows the reader to judge your work and come up with their own opinions and conduct research of their own.

While studying my own writing, I learned that I write from a two perspectives, one in which is my own, personal experience and the other being as the informational.
a. 2 different perspectives
b. I could include topic such as facts on a certain topic, views written by the author, quotes and others opinions etc.
c. All views are different depending individuals person experiences. People have different experiences that create different views on different topics.
d. Personally I think I use a clear voice, while others reading my writing may have questions about the way something is written.
e. To clarify you can always use quotation marks, or state the persons name before or after, to avoid confusion.
f. In this particular text, I believe it could have been a little more personal. No informational, or scholarly. It needs to be written in a way to understand it and be able to relate to it one way or another. Also the usage of quotation marks, could be limited.

In Don't Blame the Eater the author David Zinczenko talks about personal responsibility. The fact that people can almost blame anything on anyone, and get away with it. The fact that someone is getting heavier because they are eating too much at a fast food restaurant is not something that should be blamed on the restaurant. It is a personal decision, no one is forcing that person to eat at the restaurant, nor what to eat specifically. The restaurant isn't completely 1oo percent to blame, because we as a society need to make better decisions for a better future.

In Diamond's excerpt "Why Do Some Societies Make Disastrous Decisions", Diamond explains how people don't think a disaster is going to happen until it actually does. Most people have this thought that nothing bad can happen to me, and that's a common thought if nothing has happened yet. But the truth of the matter is that, bad things are not usually intentional and can happen at anytime. Therefore are usually unintentional and unavoidable. At some point, something will happen to everyone that will change your way of life, it was force people to change whether they are willing to or not. Diamond's opinion; people are trained to think innocently, that nothing can happen to them, and that's why when something happens it become a crisis.

pg138 #2
"Why do societies make disastrous decisions?" Societies make decisions usually based on what is best for them. They make decisions based on what they need and what they want. Societies end up destroying what they have or what they are going to have, one way or another. The author uses scholarly quotes from his students, to prove his point further. His key claims in he article are that the people on these societies may do disastrous things because they did not anticipate them to happen in the first place.
Pg137
Evolution. Did it really happen or is it just a theory? Many scientist and priests would like to argue this topic fully, but who is really right. It comes down to it, that there is really no living proof, in ones favor. There is facts in which point in a specific direction but not one that can prove the other completely wrong. Evolution is a very highly discussed topic, and in which it truly comes down to ones opinion.
p103
1. I believe that this topic is more popular then ever. People today have the wost self esteem because of the society we live in.
2. In the past, media hasn't had such a large role in society. It allowed others to view what was going behind the scenes in Hollywood, but not how to become just like them, or what surgeries you should get.
3.Others address this issue, with slight concern, but do not do much about it. No one is standing up to these tabloids/magazines and stopping this crime. Yes some companies are making a stand to fake beauty, but none have true made a change.
4.My take on this issue is that no matter, how much you truly care about something, everything basically comes down to money. Making products, making false advertisements to make money. Companies don't care what they put in that magazine, they care if they put enough trash in it, to make someone want to buy it.

I am interested in the consequences the media has on society. I am interested because I find that it truly affects every American whether we realize it or not. The problem with the media, is that they accentuate and exaggerate beauty to fit a mold that not many could every truly fit. Can we as a Country let this image exist? I want people to know that it is a problem that can be fixed, natural beauty is the purest of all beauty. If we all cared enough about ourselves we wouldn't need the media in the first place!
Pg 121;1-4
1. Clean renewable Resources. The author is saying that there are many resources that can be used, that are clean, and are better for the environment. They are not that expensive and could be the answer to global warming.
2. Related key words are, clean, reusable, windmills, fossil fuels, and energy. The author focuses on different types, and explaining them in depth so that the reader can better understand a smarted way of life.
3. I would first you dig.com to narrow my search. Then in the search box i would type in Clean air/ renewable fuel sources/etc. articles. To see that others say. Then find a page that tells and explains the sources, not just in opinions but all facts.
4. Yes, the author have valid points that I agree with. The author says that something needs to be done before its too late, but we cant do it alone, everyone needs to chip in, and help make the world a better place.

76 # 5 & 6
Although some people would argue gay marriage is something that should not be questionable in, the sense that it should be illegal. I use E.D Hirsch's notion of cultural literacy to show that there is different ways to see a topic completely through. There are many different ways to look at a certain topic, and understand the true meaning behind it and both sides. People have freedom, and without being able to practice that freedom to the full potential. People should be able to marry who they want, without politicians giving them certain restrictions.
76 #4
Although some people would argue that gay marriage is wrong, I think that it does not personally affect America, so why not? Gay marriage doesn't hurt anyone. It doesn't kill people or hurt them in anyway whatsoever and therefore should be legal all throughout the US. Its a decision not a crime, some people are attracted to different things then others, and therefore should not be stopped because they think differently.
76#2&3
2. The dispute in this essay is gay marriage, whether they should be allowed to marry or not. People all over the world have different opinions on this controversial topic. Some believe that it shouldn't even be up for debate and some believe it shouldn't even be considered anywhere in the world. There are always two sides to each issue. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and therefore should be able to make a decision in which who they should marry and who they believe they are meant to be with.

The media puts out a certain "so called look" for what is right and wrong in our society. It puts a model sense in everyone's mind and therefore everyone thinks that they too have to look and act that certain way as well. Magazines tell the reader thing such as, they are not thin enough, or prettier enough. And with constant advertisement and advise on how to fit this "so called look", the reader will do anything they have to. Readers believe just about anything that is in the articles they are reading, which in many cases are true, but in others can just be harmful. People that are considered not thin enough, may stop eating because they see that constant image of what they are suppose to look like, and will do whatever is necessary to look that way. And the only thing that is coming from that is harm to that individuals health. Magazines in a way can be informative but in another sense harmful to out society.

"They Say/I say": The Moves That Matter in Academic Writing, Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein provide templates designed to become better writers. Specifically, Graff and Birkenstein argue that the type of writing templates they offer advice, and helpful tips. As the authors themselves put it, "i have a certain advantage as a teacher of literature..". Although some people believe literature isn't an essential part of life, Graff and Birkenstein insist that it if necessary for reach ones full potential. In sum, then their view is that it helps the reader, become a better writer as well a developer. I agree, In my view, the types of templates that the authors recommend help and inspire proper format. For instance, it can help the writer develop a well written essay. In addition, the readers will become better at writing. Some might object, of course, on the grounds that is it not helping. Yet I would argue that it certainly is. Overall, then, I believe templates-- an important point to make given that with proper guidelines, a well written essay will come from it.

In Ehrenreich's essay she explains how she is multicultural. Barbra enjoys learning and exploring other cultures, and explains how she does not just commit to one culture but is open to opportunities. "In fact, this may have been ideal cultural heritage for my particular ethnic strain"... people have different ethnicity, and therefore believe in certain beliefs. This essays purpose is to give others an outlook on ethnicity, and allow others to relate to her beliefs. The essay was written for an audience of all kinds of cultures.

If ever there was an idea custom-made for Jay Leno monologue, this was it: Is there any family worthy shows out there? Isn't that like asking too much of producers now a days? Whatever happened to "I love Lucie or Full House"? I happen to sympathize with parents when it comes to TV content, though, perhaps because there is way to many shows out there that are inappropriate for young children. Parody, somewhat. Although Jay Leno doesn't have the most family orientated content, is still crosses every Americans mind at some point. Whether that be "Can they even say that?", or "Oh My God, did that really just happen!" Mostly everything on TV is garbage! Nothing in which you can be enlighten from or even learn from. TV consist of sex, violence, and anything else you don't feel comfortable watching with your parents!

Pg17#3
I feel as though my family, friends and administrators would all agree, with the choice of education. People should be able to decide what is best for them no matter what financial difficulty they are in. People should be able to find their interests and make the most of it, no matter what school they attend. My all time favorite quote is "find what you love doing, and make money doing it". That quote explains how people need to find what they love doing, learn how to become better at it through education, and then make money by doing it. So whether a student wants to attend carpentry school, instead of a private high school, so be it. You cant make that same carpenter take intro to cooking, just because the private school requires it, it just doesn't make sense. He should be going to a school with his major interest, that will better his future to come. There should be no limitation on education, only guidelines to better the student.
Pg14 #3
Education is a gift, a choice, and a way of life. Education is all around us, we learn from others in almost everything we do. We learn from our parents, teachers, peers, and most importantly ourselves. Picking the right school to attend is hard, and everyone should have the opportunity to decide which is right for them. Your parents/guardians decided where you attend school up until high school. Once you graduate from middle school, you then decided if you would like to attend a trade school, a private or even a public school. Depending on your decision, from there on out you personally decide your destiny. Although cost, interests and other factors play a large role in our education, it certainly does not segregate our schools. Not all the wealthy kids will attend a private school, not every poor kid will attend a public school. Stereotypes such as these, are not true at all. People assume things, just because people with their similarities are doing something, and in the end find that is it untrue. A lot of people are considered individuals, they do things because it is best for them, not just because it looks good, or others are doing it. I believe that choice education is a great thing, is allows Americans to express their freedom to the highest.
Questions:
Can the government actually change the "choice" of education?
How will people react if they were told where they were attending school, instead of being able to decide?

Reflection:
Voting is an essential part of society, it effects every American whether we realize it or not. Voting allows people to anonymously vote for a specific person, in which they believe would be the best candidate to hold a position. Voting gives everyday people a voice in which they can use to elect a person with the same or close values as themselves. Everyone able to vote should do so, every vote does count! A democracy can't be of use if we all don't work together! A part of citizenship is shown when one votes; the act of providing your own thoughts to your community is important.
