In the media today, Jenkins's ideas are proven very clearly. The different targets by advertising and the use or enjoyment that the item is supposed to give. Children are targeted by quite literally, childish things like toys, candy or cheap fun. The types of things that are geared towards them i think are pretty much unisex, approved by boys and girls. However, teenagers and adults are targeted for on a whole different level; the different spaces that Jenkins talked about is shown and is very accurate. Movies like The Ugly Truth, are geared towards girls because of the love scenes and the plot and storyline. Movies like SAW are directed towards guys because of gore and action, suspense along with the plot and storyline. Movies like The Hangover, can be considered unisex because all of the spaces are connected and intertwined together so all of the mediums are met. Popular Culture aimed at children provide a very simple motto: Simple Pleasures for Simple Minds.
